Hello Everyone! Hal Peterson, a Grouper Moon scientist, shot this footage of a spawning burst from a few nights ago!! You can also see Leslie Clift, another scientist, collecting eggs for genetic study! Pretty cool, right?!

When working in the field, scientists often have to get creative and think outside the box in order to capture the data they need. Check out the “Disc Cam” Grouper Moon scientists created this week. It was placed on a tripod right in the aggregation site. Its pretty awesome. How do you think this might help with the research being conducted here?
Check out this amazing video that two Grouper Moon scientists, Hal Peterson and Steve Gittings, filmed this morning. They were walking along the beach after our morning dive on the SPAG and spotted this young octopus in the turtle grass!! It is an incredible display!! What do you think?

Check out the coloration on this Nassau Grouper!! None of the scientists here have seen anything like it before. We have decided to name her/him, Hula! Pretty cool, huh?!
A few years ago, when I was here on Little Cayman with the Grouper Moon Project, we went snorkeling in the shallows looking for juvenile grouper. While we were out, we saw this beautiful Spotted Eagle Ray!! Check it out!!
