Deploying Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler
Click on the link above to watch REEF and DOE divers deploy the ADCP, which stands for Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler. The ADCP sends three laser beams up into the water column, which allows it to measure the ocean currents at different depths. It is a lot like sonar! Cool! Can anyone guess why the researchers are collecting data about the currents? Leave a comment below!!
I think the ADCPs are measuring ocean currents because the scientists want to figure out where young groupers go after they have hatched.
i think they are doing it because they want to have a good idea about where the baby grouper are going
Are the scientists collecting data about the currents to see if they have something to do with the nights that the grouper spawn?
I think they where measuring it because they Wanted to know where the groupers eggs travel.
I think they are doing it to see where the eggs travel , also to see how many eggs make it.
I agree with Rachel, because I think knowing where the
young grouper go might be useful information.
