On our dive this evening, we also saw some large, Great Barracuda! Hal Peterson was able to get some video of this one, which was probably about 4 feet long! Barracuda are SO cool, don’t you think?!

How fun to see what you are doing. I was looking at this with my guild today. They did the reading of the article last night so we will talk about that now.
That is awesome! It was so great to see you all yesterday!! I can’t wait to see you tomorrow!!
Wow! That is so cool! I would feel really privileged if I were able to do that, although I will probably get really scared if I saw a Barracuda!
It is pretty cool. I feel very fortunate to be able to participate in such an amazing project and even more fortunate to be able to share it with you all! And I have gotten used to the Barracuda. I just give them plenty of room.
Do the barracuda avoid the divers or is it common for them to attack humans?
Do barracuda tend to avoid humans? And do they avoid anything else?
Barracuda don’t seem to be afraid of much. They are territorial and I have been followed by one on a number of occasions. I assume it was because I was swimming in their territory. They are at the top of the food chain!
Was the Barracuda an adult?
Also was it a female or male?
It was definitely an adult, but I have not idea if it was a male or female. I will ask if any of the scientists can tell the difference and get back to you!
That’s a huge barracuda! Have you ever seen a family or large groups of barracuda before? Can’t wait for the underwater video chat, it will be so cool!!
Yes, I have!! Two summers ago I had the opportunity to participate in an educator program where we went diving in the Gulf of Mexico for a week. Every dive we went on, we would see at least 100 Barracuda!! It was crazy!!
yea, barracuda are awesome! i bet they can swim really fast.
Yes they can! They are shaped like torpedoes!
how deep were you and why was the barracuda swimming where nothing was?
